Los poemas intitulados Pastoral y Llueve sobre el río, de Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881-1958), inspiraron a Frederic Mompou (1893-1987) sendas canciones de concierto que conmueven tanto por su serenidad como por su ambiente bucólico. Su tempo es lento; el canto y acompañamiento, a media voz. Una y otra canciones constituyen un refugio contra la taquicardia y el fragor de nuestro tiempo.
