Eric Lu

The pianist who at the age of 17 made history at the XVII Fryderyk Chopin Competition will play a recital in Warsaw

Two American pianists, daughter and son respectively of Asian immigrants, stood out exactly five years ago in one of the most important piano competitions in the world, the Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw, in its seventeentedition: Kate Liu and Eric Lu.

Kate Liu was born in Singapore and Eric Lu, of Chinese family, in Massachusetts. She got third place; he won fourth place and became at the age of 17 one of the youngest winners in the history of this contest.

The recital that Kate will give in the Concert Hall of the Royal Castle in Warsaw was reported in the previous entry on this blog.

Eric Lu will perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Fryderyk Chopin and Franz Schubert on the night of October 3.

The recital will begin with the Sonata in B-flat major KV 333, by Mozart, and will conclude with the Sonata in A major D 959, by Schubert.

Among other works, Eric Lu will perform are three of the Preludes opus 28, with which Chopin, the young composer, dazzled the world.
